Share your story about why you considered and ultimately had cosmetic surgery.

I have been in good shape and considered pretty all my life. When I hit my mid-40's, I had to have a tumor removed from my kidney which left me with extra skin over time. I have strong muscles and work out with weights and a variety of cardiovascular machines/classes on a daily basis. Most people thought I had a flat stomach, since I have stong abs. But I had too much skin that did not go away, so I had a tummy tuck. In addition, I have had dark under-eye circles for some time now which drove me crazy so I opted for an injectable  filler. It's only been 2 weeks post-surgery and I think both procedures will be fine, but am a little disappointed with the tummy tuck scar line. I would have liked for it to have been a little lower so I could show off my stomach.

How did your friends and family feel about your decision to have a procedure?

My family told me to do what makes me feel good. They all said "I don't see the problem", except for my aunt who also has dark eye circles. Most of my friends don't know that I had the surgery. I didn't want them to think I was vain.

How did 1800MySurgeon help you through the process of finding a qualified plastic surgeon?

1800mySurgeon was great with referrals in my state and answered questions via phone and email. 1800mySurgeon provided great follow-up and even suggestions about asking my surgeon the right questions.

Can you describe your surgery and recovery?

The surgerical center was great. It was clean and the nurses and doctors were professional and efficient. I was given a card with everyone's name who came in contact with me. The surgery was quick with good follow-up. I was given an overnight stay in a local hotel because we had a 3 hour drive and I had a visit to the doctor the next day. Any questions that I had since then have been answered through phone calls or post visits. Since I only had skin tightened I did not have a lot of pain but what I would say is more discomfort or soreness. Walking bent over is a pain in the lower back.

What advice would you give to another person considering your same procedure?

I would tell anyone who is interested to go ahead and get a consult. Don't let fear or other people's thoughts dictate what you would like to do with your own body. There is a lot of advancement in cosmetic procedures. Why not take advantage of them? However, please do not consider a procedure to make your life better. If you are unhappy or depressed, find out why before thinking a procedure will "fix" you and your problems.

How do you feel about your result?

So far the results are fine. It has only been two weeks and scars are red and puffy as well as injection sights. As I said before, I do wish my tummy tuck scar line was two inches below where it is now. I have such nice muscles I would like to show them off and the incision line is just below my belly button. That is a disappointment but I am an optimist and all will be fine!
