Share your story about why you considered and ultimately had cosmetic surgery.

I had originally only wanted to get a thread lift but Dr. Kane told me that I had too much skin and there was no way to eliminate it with a thread lift. So I opted for the face lift and neck lift. I also had bags removed from my lower lids and fat removed from under my chin and put into my lips to make them fuller. I wanted to re-invent myself. I still think of myself as being young. I'm full of life, I like to travel and I wanted to look good.

How did your friends and family feel about your decision to have a procedure?

I didn't inform any family members I was doing this except for my two daughters. I was more interested in what they would say after it was done. I was so surprised at the reaction I got from people I had worked with for 30 years. They all immediately said I really looked good but never knew why. Only one person knew because I'm very close to her and she was very discreet. My daughters helped me finally unveil myself to the rest of the family. It took them about 5 minutes of study to figure out what was different. They knew something was different but couldn't put their finger on it exactly. Just that I really looked good. I'm 70 years old and look 45.

How did 1800MySurgeon help you through the process of finding a qualified plastic surgeon?

1800mySurgeon contacted me and recommended Dr. Kane because he was Board Certified and had no complaints or lawsuits filed against him. His record was impeccable and that meant everything to me. I like him as a doctor and as a person. He's very sweet.

Can you describe your surgery and recovery?

The surgery took 7 1/2 hours and I was, of course, very confused for about a 24 hr. period. The 2nd day was a little better. Ice packs were a daily thing but the removal of the wrapping took place the next day. The best part was I could actually shower the next day after the wrapping was removed. There were no stitches except underneath and the skin was glued. My ears were also trimmed because my lobes were too long. Dr. Kane will also re-pierce them in 6 months. I am 5 1/2 weeks out and at 4 weeks I was only swollen a little in my lower cheeks. All bruising was pretty much gone.

What advice would you give to another person considering your same procedure?

This facelift was not bad at all. Staying in for 4 weeks massaging and using ice packs got boring but you have to do it. I lost 10 pounds while recuperating because I couldn't open my mouth real far and drank a lot of soup. If you want to do this - I say go for it.

How do you feel about your result?

I love it. I feel like a new woman. I hold my head up high when I go out as if to say "Look at me. I'm 70 and I still got it."
