Share your story about why you considered and ultimately had cosmetic surgery.

7 years ago, my husband and I were blessed with twins, delivered by C-section. This was my first and only pregnancy and they stretched my midsection out pretty good. I was left with quite a sagging pouch and deformed abdomen. Since then, I lost quite a bit of weight and continued various ab exercises to tighten the sagging flesh - nothing worked. The weight came off, but the sagging skin remained, looking even worse. I felt like I had no control over the loose flesh. I spent hundreds of dollars on support garments and bathing suits which were highly uncomfortable and hot to wear. I was ready for a doctors opinion. Dr. Smith said there was nothing I could do on my own to get rid of the sagging flesh, but he could help me.

How did your friends and family feel about your decision to have a procedure?

My family and friends were very supportive of my decision, as they had watched the journey since the pregnancy. They knew this area was a frustration to me and encouraged my venture to have the surgery. I feel that this support is what has helped me through the process, without a doubt.

How did 1800MySurgeon help you through the process of finding a qualified plastic surgeon?

I completed the information they requested online. Within 24 hours, a representative was in touch with me to set up a consultation with Dr. Smith. The phone book in my area had several plastic surgeons listed, Dr. Smith was the only board certified in the area - I appreciated the help of 1800mysurgeon!

Can you describe your surgery and recovery?

IN the end, I had a Circumfrentiel(sp?) lift which means that not only did the dr do a Tummy Tuck, but he also worked on my hips, liposuctioned my thighs and back for contouring and performed fat injections into my buttocks for contouring as well. It was a 3 hour surgery starting on my stomach, finishing on my back. The incision goes pretty much all the way around me. He tightened the lining that covers my organs, the ab muscles and removed 20lbs of skin between my belly button and pubic hairline. After 3 weeks, I still have lots of swelling & bruising on & in my buttocks and thighs, which is expected. Bending is still a slow task, but everyday gets better. The fatigue lingers the longest. It doesn't take much right now to exhaust my body...it's relative to the fatigue one feels during their pregnancy.

What advice would you give to another person considering your same procedure?

The advice I would give is to make sure you've done your part to lose the weight and tighten as much as you can - this is an intense surgery, not to be taken lightly or as an "easy way out." Make sure you have all the support you need. I am very blessed to have an amazing husband who wowed me with his nursing skills...initially you feel like an adult infant, completely dependent on others for EVERYTHING! I recommend that if you have kids, you need someone to devote their attention to you, while another handles the kids and house for at least the first week...you will need this help and support! Take each day slowly, but each day try something new - listen to your body!

How do you feel about your result?

I am thrilled with my results! I have NOT regretted my decision once. I am fortunate enough to have my summers off so I did not have the pressures of work lingering. I feel like this is definitely a new beginning for me and my family. Thank you Dr. Smith & staff!!!!
