Share your story about why you considered and ultimately had cosmetic surgery.

I had lost a considerable amount of weight (40lbs) from exercise and dieting. I went from a size 10 to a size 2. Although my body look great in clothes, I was dissatisfied how it look when I look in the mirror naked. I had excess skin around my abs from 3 pregnancies and weight loss. My breast always small (size a/b cups) were sagging and unattractive. I decided that I had done all I could from exercising and diet and that to make me happy with myself ... I wanted to take the next step--plastic surgery

How did your friends and family feel about your decision to have a procedure?

My husband was supportive. My closest friends were surprised but supportive too. My kids were less than thrilled. They said, "I thought you always told us that we should love ourselves the way we are." I replied that's true, and I do. However, I wanted to enhance myself for me ... not for any one else.

How did 1800MySurgeon help you through the process of finding a qualified plastic surgeon?

Before I even thought about which doctor I would go with, I had decided I would meet with three and make my decision from those three. I did some research on my own. 1800mySurgeon provided me with two surgeons in my area, and the third was one I had chosen on my own. Of the three I visited for consultation, the only one I did not like at all was the one I had chosen on my own. The other two that 1800mySurgeon gave to me were both excellent and I had a hard decision in choosing between them.

Can you describe your surgery and recovery?

My surgery went as planned. There were no complications. I remember speaking with the doctor and being wheeled into the operating room. The next thing I remember I was being awaken in my hospital room by the night nurse. I never felt any real pain. Of course I was on pain meds. But having had 3 kids, (1 by c-section) I remember feeling pain even with pain meds. So I was expecting to be in some pain, but I wasn't. My recovery was faster than even I expected. I believe it was because I was in such good physical shape that I was able to recover so quickly. Three days after having my tummy tuck I was off any pain meds and I was walking upright with very little pain except when I laugh, cough, or sneezed.

What advice would you give to another person considering your same procedure?

I would strongly suggest getting into as physically healthy as you can before the surgery. Exercise and get down to as close as you can to your ideal weight before surgery. Do lots of ab work to build up those stomach muscles. Be realistic about the breast implants. Because I was so small, I came in wanting to be really big... but my doctor explained w/ my small frame going to big would be disproportinate and not give me the results I desired, which was to have a chest, but not look like a porn star ...

How do you feel about your result?

I love my results. I love how I look with a size c/d chest and flat abs. At 47 I look better than I looked at 27. I'm hot! My husband loves the results too. It's like he got a trophy wife w/o having to go through a nasty divorce from the 1st wife ... But seriously, I feel more confident about myself and now when I look in the mirro all my hard work from exercising and dieting looks like it ... because even though I was doing 200 sit-ups a day I didnot have a flat abs. All three of the doctors I consulted w/ said that I would not have to have liposuction because I had no fat that it was all excess skin from the pregnancies and weight loss and the only way to get rid of it would be through surgery. I am glad I did it. I just wish I'd have done it years ago.
