Share your story about why you considered and ultimately had cosmetic surgery.

I have always been self-conscious about the appearance of my nose (family trait) and when I was involved in a car accident 3 years ago, experiencing facial trauma, I decided I would undergo surgery to correct both cosmetic and functional concerns. I really had difficulty breathing which was a huge motivator to seek care. The significance a nose has on a face motivated me to seek a provider with a sense of artistry and respect for complimenting other features.

How did your friends and family feel about your decision to have a procedure?

Most were supportive and understanding. No one tried to talk me out of the procedure. I believe some were fearful the results would be drastic and many said they didn't believe it to be necessary (the cosmetic portion).

How did 1800MySurgeon help you through the process of finding a qualified plastic surgeon?

I had been doing research on my own for years and struggled somewhat to narrow down the many many providers out there. 1800mySurgeon offered a single name and offered some background and experience on the provider. Board-certification was verified and the number of years experience was offered as well. Ultimately, the decision came down to a face-to-face meeting with the provider at the consultation. I probably would never have considered the recommended provider without 1800mySurgeon's recommendation.

Can you describe your surgery and recovery?

Surgery itself was brief, immediate recovery even briefer. It was an outpatient surgery center and by late morning I was back at home in my own bed. The staff was extremely professional and thorough, excellent bedside manner. I felt comfortable right away. The post-op pain was tolerable, not as painful as I anticipated, very uncomfortable but very doable. The bruising lasts awhile and the splint remains in place for no less than a week. The constant drainage is irritating but not unexpected. Pain requiring medication did not last more than 24 hours.

What advice would you give to another person considering your same procedure?

Absolutely shop around for providers, know exactly what you are looking for, mentally prepare for the results to be slow to visualize. Do research on the procedure, provider and practice. Be aware of average costs (some will over quote you well beyond the national average, sometimes double for a simple procedure).

How do you feel about your result?

So far so good. Not 100% healed yet, but did not experience post-op infections or complications. The cosmetic results are very very natural, you would have no idea I have ever had surgery on my nose. I am waiting for the last of the healing and swelling to subside and hope then I will be 100% satisfied.
