Share your story about why you considered and ultimately had cosmetic surgery.

I had large fat pockets underneath my eyelids and dark circles. Every time I looked in the mirror I was frustrated. I feel young, but felt that I looked much older and tired all the time. I had tried every makeup trick in the book, but to no avail. The fat pockets and dark circles just kept getting worse. My frustration led me to investigate eyelid surgery.

How did your friends and family feel about your decision to have a procedure?

Some of my friends would say they didn't notice any problem. My daughter and my husband would always say "what is wrong with your eyes today!" People at work would often ask me if I was tired. My mom was in favor of me doing the procedure, but of course was worried. My husband was also worried, should there be complications.

How did 1800MySurgeon help you through the process of finding a qualified plastic surgeon?

1800mySurgeon helped me find a double board-certified plastic surgeon. I had the name of another surgeon, or so I thought. Come to find out he was not trained in this field of expertise and he was not board-certified. 1800mySurgeon explained to me how important it was to have a board-certified surgeon to perform this procedure.

Can you describe your surgery and recovery?

The surgery was done in the office using local injections. It was not very painful at all! It took longer than expected. All of the staff were very supportive and helpful. The surgeon made sure I was always comfortable and not in any pain. The recovery was an easy one. Keeping ice on my eyes for the first 48 hours really helped my recovery.Taking the pain medication was also very helpful for those first few days. I still have bruising and selling 9 days later, but it improves everyday.

What advice would you give to another person considering your same procedure?

I would first find a surgeon you are comfortable with and trust. Then I would have a thorough consultation with them. Make sure you understand all your options before making a decision on exactly what you want done. Understanding the procedure and recovery are vital. Also, understanding the side effects are very important. I found that deciding right then and there was right for me or I might have gotten too anxious if I waited too long.

How do you feel about your result?

I am still awaiting the final results. I am only 9 days out and still have some bruising and swelling. The fat pockets under the eyes are definitely gone. The surgeon and I decided to take a conservative approach to the surgery. I didn't want eyes that looked 20 and a face that looked 55. I think the results are going to be what I was looking for.
