Share your story about why you considered and ultimately had cosmetic surgery.

I have lateral lip lines and have had them since I was a young woman. I am a 61 year old female and I keep up my appearance with my age. But the lateral lip lines made me look nasty and old and they bothered me. I have had in the past 2 eyelid surgeries (two upper and one lower) with plastic surgeons in Scottsdale, Arizona. I have had full facial laser resurfacing also done in Arizona. At that time I got the look I wanted but over time the old lady lip lines came back. I did not look refreshed or 60 at the time with the lip lines saying "hello, I'm back". In today's world, a woman out in the public needs to look her best. My career involves doctors, nurses, CEOs (you get the picture). And should I need tweaking for something else I'm all for it. Today, a woman needs three men in her life. A good auto-mechanic, lover and plastic surgeon, maybe not in that order.

How did your friends and family feel about your decision to have a procedure?

Very encouraging. My daughters said "go mom" and my sister said "you go girl". All of my friends said "yes". I was beginning to think the lateral lip lines were worse than what I saw. We have a saying in our family that goes, "if you can't hide it, decorate it". No way can a woman decorate lateral lip lines unless we grow a mustache, and they are not in vogue for women in this country.

How did 1800MySurgeon help you through the process of finding a qualified plastic surgeon?

1800mySurgeon called me after I had requested they do so. I explained what I was looking for, what my problem was and where I lived. I was given the name of a board certified plastic surgeon and his information was emailed to me. 1800mySurgeon even made an appointment for me and explained in detail what would happen at the plastic surgeon's office. Then they called me to confirm my appointment and made sure I got the information they had emailed me. And there is more. 1800mySurgeon called and inquired as to how my first appointment went, if there were any problems and so forth.

Can you describe your surgery and recovery?

I had fillers in my upper lip. I was first given two injections (like the dentists do) and you have to wait until you get numb. Then the surgeon injected the filler once I was numb. The only pain I had was the first two injections and he was better then the dentist as far as injections go. Because I take a lot of Aspirin I was bleeding from the filler injection sites and the Doctor had to squeeze my upper lip until it stopped bleeding. So I was black and blue on the upper lip and the Doctor said this would happen and not to take Aspirin for 2 weeks on my next visit. A little swelling was obvious right after the procedure and the bruising was there the next morning. Because of the black and blue upper lip I told everyone who did not know what I was having it done that I had fallen and hit my upper lip but at least my teeth were not knocked out. I was one of the rare people that bruise easily but hopefully it was due to the Aspirin.

What advice would you give to another person considering your same procedure?

Go for it. But beware. Listen to what your plastic surgeon tells you, and if you don't want anyone to know you are seeing a plastic surgeon, be prepared to hide it. You could be a rare case and bruise as I did. Also, don't take Aspirin prior to the procedure if you can. The only time I had pain was with the injections into the gums, and that was a pinching pain. Other than that, it was a piece of cake.

How do you feel about your result?

Very good. Now I look like a pretty woman in her 60s and I feel good about the procedure. It has given my confidence a boost. My husband died two years ago and it was time to get back in the world as a single woman. After all, why would God give us plastic surgeons if we didn't need them?
