Share your story about why you considered and ultimately had cosmetic surgery.

I had lost 60 pounds and was not happy in the way my clothes fit and how I looked. I was very scared to have a tummy tuck, because I was a smoker for the past 10 years. On 5/27/09, I quit smoking and had my tummy tuck and arm liposuction on 7/1/09. If I tell you it didn't hurt, I would be lying, but the results were worth the pain. I wish I had my tummy tuck performed a long time ago. I would recommend my surgeon and the procedure to anyone that truly wanted to do it. I am so, so happy with my results. My clothes look great and I am constantly getting compliments.

How did your friends and family feel about your decision to have a procedure?

Some of my friends thought I was crazy and some told me that whatever I did they were behind me, but to get ready for some pain. I explained to them that I have been wanting to do the procedures for ten years and really wanted this more than anything.

How did 1800MySurgeon help you through the process of finding a qualified plastic surgeon?

1800mySurgeon was a great help, because I had seen so many surgeons. Some wanted too much for the procedure, and some I just didn't feel comfortable with. 1800mySurgeon referred me to a great surgeon who is board-certified and is an excellent surgeon.

Can you describe your surgery and recovery?

I had my surgery on 7/1/09, in the early morning. After my surgery I was put in the recovery room, and then to my room where I stayed overnight. The staff at the facility were caring and took good care of me. I was very swollen and stitched from one side of my waist to the other. I did not like the draining bags, but took good care of draining them. I loved my garment and didn't remove it until after 8 weeks of my surgery because it gave me abdominal support. My recovery has taken longer than usual, as I have circulation issues. However, the results are amazing and I am still healing and each day gets better and better. By the way, I still have not smoked, as I want to heal properly.

What advice would you give to another person considering your same procedure?

Make sure to stop smoking before you have the procedure. Do it if it's something that you want to do. You will never regret it once it's done. Pick a great surgeon, who cares for his patients and not just because it's cheap or consider going to another country to do it. I know that there are surgeons in other countries that are cheap, but if something goes wrong, you will have to fly out to that country to correct your problem(s), because no surgeon in the state you live in will take care of you.

How do you feel about your result?

Oh my God! It's priceless! I can now wear anything and not worry about hiding my stomach and love handles. I look great and wear clothes that I would never before. I walk and have so much confidence in what I am wearing. It's such a great high, because your clothes look good and when people tell you look great it's music to your ears.
