Cosmetic Surgery After Gastric Bypass

How long do you have to wait for cosmetic surgery after gastric bypass?

First of all, a big congratulations to those of you who have acheived your weight loss goals after gastric bypass!

We recommend you meet with a physician, board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery when you are at or close to your weight loss goal.

Cosmetic surgery may be considered by the gastric bypass patient approximately 9-12 months after your procedure. It's important that your weight loss has stabilized and you are at or close to the weight you plan on maintaining. Please keep in mind, this is a general time frame for surgery.

Every patient is special and unique; some people may be a candidate prior to this time frame, some later.

Begin planning your surgery in advance, call different offices, do your research. An educated patient is a patient able to make an informed decision about his or her procedure.
