Breast Augmentation Myths Revealed
Myth 1: “Breast augmentation is extremely painful.”
Truth: Breast augmentation, like any other surgery, will cause minor discomfort, which could be eased with a mild pain medication.
Myth 2: “I need to have breast implant revision surgery every 10 years.”
Truth: There is no specific amount of time required before a patient has revision surgery. The need for revision surgery depends on certain medical factors such as ruptures, deflation or capsular contracture or the decision to change the size of the implants.
Myth 3: “I can’t wear under-wire bras.”
Truth: After healing, it is alright to wear under-wire bras. In fact, wearing under-wire bras can help support the weight of the breasts and prevent sagging and stretching breast tissue in the long run.
Myth 4: “I can’t get a Mammogram with implants.”
Truth: Silicone or saline implants placed under the muscle actually help achieve excellent Mammogram results.
Myth 5: “I’m over 50 years old and way too old to have breast augmentation.”
Truth: Women can have breast augmentation regardless of their age, as long as they are in good health and free of breast cancer.
